Shimshal Pass Lake - Shimshal Valley, Pakistan
Shimshal Pass and two lakes are situated deep in Shimshal Pamir region near border of China. One can reach Shimshal Village through a tough and adventurous jeep ride. It takes 4-5 hours from Karimabad Hunza to reach Shimshal while 7-8 hours from Gilgit for the same journey. Then a 3 days trek leads one from Shimshal Village to Shimshal Lakes and Pass.

Trek to Hachinder Meadows, Hunza

This is how Rakaposhi looks from the top of the mountain, right opposite her! This mountain can be scaled from Nasirabad and Hassanabad however we started the trek from our home in Nasirabad. The meadows at the top are called Hachinder where the cattle and shepherds of Nasirabad spend most of their summer.

Phander is a beautiful and magical place, views of Phander lake from the isolated PTDC motel capture one's attention. Feeling the cool breeze sitting up at the motel can get anyone in trance and one can sit for hours watching it. The view becomes even more attractive at sunrise when the rays spread upon the natural water of the lake.

The day#11 was here and we prepared to take a journey to the highest point which was Khunjrab Pass. We were told beforehand that it was impossible for bicycles to reach Khunjrab because of the high elevation of the road. We decided to visit pass on a motorbike.
