A tribute to fabulous architecture of Hyderabad, Sind (Pakistan)

Spent couple of weeks in 2008 on the streets of Hyderabad taking pictures of old, historic buildings, mainly private residences. The idea was to capture the beauty and essence of their architectural details. The fear was that soon most of these beautiful buildings will be replaced by bland concrete high rise multi-dwelling structures. The young generation will never know about their heritage if these buildings are not preserved, if not physically then at least in pictures.

Houses built in Hyderabad during early to mid 20th century contained many unique features like Wind Catchers; Balconies (mostly wooden); Servant room on basement with entrance from street level. These features were not only practical but aesthetically very pleasing as well. There is a need to incorporate these feature in modern day architecture as well.
