When I first got my Honda City i-DSI in 2017, I didn't expect the amazing adventures it would bring. But with every trip, this trusty car stuck with me, taking me to exciting places and creating unforgettable memories. It's not just a car anymore; it's my travel buddy. From the breathtaking Cherry Blossoms in Hunza to the bustling streets of Lahore, from the peaceful landscapes of Keran in Azad Kashmir to fun trips to Abbottabad and Besham. It also led me to explore the stunning valleys of Swat, the cozy hill station of Murree, the scenic Muzaffarabad, and the mesmerizing Kehwara Salt Mine. Every journey with it is special. Let's dive into our shared experiences and relive the moments that made our journey truly amazing!
When I decided to visit Hunza Valley, I didn't have much experience driving. But I loved taking slow drives and exploring new places. The Karakoram Highway fascinated me because of its mystery. Before, I drove 220 kilometers from Gilgit on a bicycle. We took our time, stopping at every main station and enjoying each small town along the way. Every place and its people along the Karakoram Highway have their own unique culture, making it hard to resist stopping at each one.
In Shinkari, a peaceful spot near Abbottabad, we found calmness surrounded by green trees and beautiful views. We relaxed there for half an hour, enjoying the quiet and exploring the lovely tea gardens. It was a refreshing break in a truly serene place.
Kohistan has green land with tall rocky mountains. The Indus River flows fast, and you can hear it from far away. People here are starting to get educated and work in government jobs, which is new. The Karakoram Highway goes through Kohistan, and the small towns along it are colorful and fun to see. They have tasty food like "Chapli Kebab" and interesting traditions.
As you head towards Chilas, the green rocky mountains turn dry and barren, with no signs of life or water. The area is arid, and sometimes you have to drive for hours without seeing anyone else. People suggest traveling in a group on this road, likely because of the remote and potentially unsafe nature of the Diamir-Chilas area. Summer Nala and Khayal Nala are two main stops at the end of the Kohistan area, where you can find some basic food and a refreshing break. The best part is the sound of rushing water, which provides a sense of relief in this otherwise desolate landscape.
The road through Nagar & Hunza Valley is well-maintained and generally doesn't have steep climbs or descents. If you stay calm and patient, you'll truly enjoy the journey. Along the way, you'll start to see majestic snow-capped mountains reaching heights of up to 8,000 meters. The lush green valleys are filled with a variety of fresh fruits and delicious local cuisine. Among the favorites are Mumto & Chapshoroo, must-try dishes loved by all travelers passing through.
As you continue your journey, you'll come across Attabad Lake, a stunning turquoise gem formed by a landslide in 2010. This breathtaking lake adds to the beauty of the landscape, offering opportunities for boating and taking in the serene surroundings. It's a must-visit stop on your trip through this picturesque region.
In just four days, we reached Hunza, marveling at the beauty of every stop along the way. Our return journey followed the same route, taking an equal number of days. It was a memorable adventure filled with breathtaking landscapes, delicious cuisine, and unforgettable experiences. As we bid farewell to Nagar & Hunza Valley, we carried with us the cherished memories of our journey through this enchanting region.
Remember, taking care of your car with regular engine oil changes, quality fuel, frequent engine tuning, and keeping your brakes and tires up to date ensures that your vehicle will accompany you wherever you want to go. With good ground clearance, your car can navigate any terrain with ease.
Autumn in Abbottabad is a delightful experience filled with colorful sights and crisp air. As I walked through the streets, I couldn't help but smile at the vibrant foliage all around me. The trees were adorned with leaves of red, orange, and gold, creating a picturesque scene that filled me with joy.
One of my favorite activities during autumn in Abbottabad was taking leisurely strolls in the parks. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, I felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me. The sound of rustling leaves and the gentle breeze added to the serene atmosphere, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Another highlight of autumn in Abbottabad was indulging in seasonal treats like hot apple cider and pumpkin spice lattes. The cozy cafes and bakeries offered a variety of delicious delights that warmed both my heart and soul. Sipping on a warm drink while admiring the autumn scenery was a simple pleasure that I cherished during this magical time of year.
Roaming through Azad Kashmir, from Muzaffarabad to the picturesque Keran Valley and Authmuqam side, was a joyous adventure. My Honda City 2008 i-DSI was my companion as I soaked in the stunning views, savored delicious local food, and enjoyed the pleasant weather.
Arriving in Muzaffarabad, I was greeted by the warm hospitality of the locals and the tantalizing aroma of Kashmiri cuisine. From mouthwatering kebabs to flavorful biryanis, every dish was a culinary delight that left me craving for more. Exploring the Neelum River, I was mesmerized by its crystal-clear waters and the tranquility it brought to the surroundings. Sitting by the riverbank, I soaked in the serene atmosphere, feeling grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural beauty.
Continuing my journey to Keran Valley and Authmuqam side, I was greeted by panoramic views of rolling hills and verdant valleys. The vibrant shades of green painted the landscape, creating a breathtaking sight that took my breath away.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the landscape, I couldn't help but reflect on the beauty of Azad Kashmir and the unforgettable experiences I had encountered along the way. With the soothing sound of the Neelum River echoing in the background, I knew that this journey would forever hold a special place in my heart.
Travelling on the M2 Motorway from Islamabad to Lahore on a foggy winter morning was an interesting experience. The fog was so thick that it felt like driving through a cloud. I had to be extra cautious, driving slowly and keeping a close eye on the road ahead. Despite the low visibility, there was a sense of calmness in the air, and I found myself enjoying the quiet solitude of the journey.
As I continued along the motorway, the fog gradually began to lift, revealing glimpses of the surrounding landscape. The soft glow of the rising sun added a touch of warmth to the chilly morning, casting long shadows on the mist-covered fields. It was a surreal sight, with the sun's rays piercing through the fog, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
As I neared Lahore, the fog finally cleared completely, unveiling the beauty of the countryside in all its glory. The lush green fields and rolling hills stretched out before me, bathed in the soft light of the morning sun. It was a breathtaking sight, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural beauty.
