Shandoor Bohat Door (Shandoor - A place far away) - P3

The day of 14th August was a couple of days away, so dedicated rest of cycling days to our country Pakistan. We equipped our bicycles with the early breakfast & decorated our bicycles with Pakistani flag. The ride got a purpose, we were spreading unity & love among the people of Ghizer. If 10% of them sees us and think these are the men from our country who are spreading love, we could feel our visit was worth doing.

Day 3 - Gahkuch - Gupis

Hot Chola and Pratha is served in the breakfast It came hot and tasty. Parathas were deep fried and were very crispy , unlike other places. We also tried very crispy “Naan” with Chola (Chickpea). All in all the breakfast from “Shandoor Hotel, Gahkuch” was delicious and a great boost to the start of the 3rd day of cycling.

Passing through Damas, we stopped by a Dahaba where we saw two gentlemen from Zhob, Balochistan. They came all the way from Zhob to spread the teachings of Islam. They pass by small villages and preach the teaching of Islam.

“We travelled a thousand miles and came to Gilgit-Baltistan just to spread the message of Allah (God) to the people. We are walking on foot, we do not use any vehicle. When we travel, we stop by the local Dhabbas and have rest. We are going to Ishkomen valley, and it might take us another week or so to reach there.”

Mr. Haji Abdul Ghani & Qadam Jaan left their families and came this far just to play their part and to make this earth a safer place to live. We had a really friendly discussion with both of them. Asking them what they do, they answered,

“Back home, everyone is into business. We see here, people like to go to Army and Navy, but Zhob is very different. The people are very different. Majority of the people are into business. When our kids become young, they help us in our business. My two sons are now into business and helping their mother back home.”

We were in Yangal when the sun started to rise in, Unfortunately, we couldn't see any hotels between Damas and Yangal and it was already 2pm. We saw a Masjid in Yangal, so we stop for the much-needed break. The Imaam of the Masjid invited us for lunch and he brought “Phitti & Lassi” in the lunch.

“Yangal is a small village consisting of 18-20 homes. We earn mostly by selling almonds, Walnut and cherries. We earn enough from those that we can easily manage the whole year. All homes here not in good financially, So what we do is to help those peole on our own. The needy doesn’t need to go out and ask, we know each other so well, we help them without letting anyother know. All the kids of the village come here to study Quran Pak in the evening. These small village of Yangal has everything we need, we are living as a one family.”

Gupis was not very far away, we finally saw some small shops and Dabbhas at Raushan village. After passing this village, the road comes downs to the level of the river and becomes really calm. The river takes up the trees on the sides of the road. It's a treat sitting on the bank of the river and watch the water.
